Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences theory has remarkable implication for education. Most schools seem to limit the assessment of the performance of the children to only two intelligences: verbal and mathematical. Howard Gardner’s theories expand this vision and allow multifaceted differences of all children
In this workshop, teachers will in-groups arrive at a rationale for learner-based teaching which for too long has been neglected in our system. They will also work on a questionnaire that will give a fair idea of their own scores in Multiple Intelligences as defined by Howard Gardner.
Building on the insights of their own intelligences teachers will look at the applications of Multiple Intelligences framework and select lesson ideas from a wide variety provided to them relating each subject to each intelligence.
Outcomes of workshop
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to: ▪ Explore multiple intelligences in each individual. ▪ Prepare lesson plans to deal with all the students’ intelligences. ▪ Stimulate teachers to find more ways of helping all students in their classes
